Dr. Stephen Finnegan
Managing Director, PNZ Advisory
Stephen is a thought leader in sustainability — but never one to overcomplicate it. With over 25 years of experience, he helps clients turn complex carbon and ESG data into clear, credible action.
As Managing Director of PNZ Advisory and an Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool, Stephen combines academic depth with industry know-how, bringing calm, clarity, and confidence to every net-zero strategy.
Dan Hyner
Group Finance Director
Dan is an experienced finance leader with a background in both listed and PE-backed businesses. He combines technical strength with a commercial mindset, helping shape PNZ’s growth through scalable systems, strong reporting, and clear financial oversight.
With a relationship-led approach, Dan supports teams across the group to make confident, informed decisions as we expand our impact.
Dr. Tom Johnston
Operations Director & Carbon Lead
Tom makes net-zero happen. He leads delivery across PNZ Advisory, combining sharp operational thinking with hands-on carbon expertise. With a PhD in carbon management and a love of solving complex problems, Tom supports clients from tech to the built environment.
Ellen Moncur
Sustainability Lead
Ellen is known for her warmth, focus, and strong technical grounding in sustainability. With a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Sustainability, she brings both passion and rigour to every project — from ESG assessments to complex carbon management work, Ellen can advise on it all.
Brontë Smyth-Hyde
Sustainability Data Analyst
Brontë combines analytical depth with a relentless commitment to impact. With a background in physics and a master’s in sustainability, she leads complex data analysis with clarity, care, and precision — always looking for insights that drive change.
Adam Longland
Sustainability Consultant
Adam brings 7+ years of project management experience across sectors, with a sharp eye for stakeholder coordination and delivery. New to sustainability but all-in, his background in business studies and operations makes him a trusted bridge between strategy and action.
Courtney Smith
Business Development Representative
Courtney brings energy, empathy, and insight to every client conversation. Formerly running installation operations in the PNZ Energy team, she now leads on business development — combining technical know-how with a people-first approach.

Carbon Project Coordinator
Gabriela supports projects across the PNZ Advisory team, combining strong research skills with a creative mindset. With a background in climate change, she contributes to everything from technical analysis and blog writing to visual content and social media — helping bring clarity and credibility to our work both internally and externally.
